How to check your political party membership status in Kenya

The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties has made it possible for citizens to check their political party membership status. It can be done by sending an SMS to a code that will be available soon or by visiting ORPP's website.

Whether you are a delegate of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), the ruling Jubilee, or any other political formation, you can know your membership status by using the two platforms.

How to join a political party in Kenya

Political formations in any given country are legal entities with their rights and responsibilities. On this account, each establishment has its criteria and latitude in deciding what one needs to satisfy to become a delegate. The eligibility for membership is stipulated in the political party's constitution.

Political parties recruit members using the specified membership verification forms. These forms are duly filled and signed by every member. Once a member has been entered into the membership register of a given political party, he or she becomes a delegate.

Considering that the membership register has to be continuously updated, members have to keep checking their membership status. Fortunately, the process has been made easier through an online portal.

The Office of Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) is also working on an SMS code that will be availed to the public. The code will enable you to confirm your membership by sending your identification number (ID) as an SMS to it.
